I'll be honest, I've not done much with jade. It's a green rock and a total pain-in-the-* to polish. I actually had started making a jade cabochon with a piece of jade my dad gave me 50 years ago. I trucked it around all those years and finally decided to finish it when I re-engaged the lapidary arts. The only shine I could get was an orange peel surface. It frustrated me, and there were more interesting rocks to cut.
